Conférence : Vulnérabilité des sols alpins face au réchauffement climatique
Marc André Sélosse, the great French biologist, refers to the soil as 'the origin of the world'. Soil plays a fundamental role in Alpine ecosystems.
At a time of global change, although soils are at the heart of major environmental and societal issues (carbon storage, regulation of the water cycle, plant nutrition), their functions are becoming both vulnerable and threatened.
Rising temperatures, which are all the more marked in mountain ecosystems, are changing not only the duration of snow cover but also all the seasonal cycles that used to depend on it.
So we invite you to set off on a voyage of discovery of the unjustly little-known soils, to understand the roles they play for human and non-human societies, and the threats they face.
