Tallard (Aerodromes)

To the south of Gap, in Tallard, away from the prevailing winds and just a few hundred metres from the A51 motorway exit, the Hautes-Alpes’ main aerodrome operates all year long, combining industrial and tourist activities. Polyaéro, the new training centre is proof of the busy activities hub established here. Tallard is Europe’s number one centre for aviation-related leisure activities.

Specialists and those who are interested can take part in a range of aviation activities such as parachuting, paragliding, microlight, gliding, and flying by plane, helicopter, hot air balloon or gyrocopter and so on. Several international champion teams train here and competitions are regularly organised.

There are four aerodromes in the Hautes-Alpes: Tallard, Saint-Crépin, Le Chevalet in Aspres-sur-Buëch and la Bâtie-Montsaléon. The department has a world-wide reputation in the field of aeronautics due to the natural setting, upper air conditions and favourable weather conditions with 300 days of sunshine a year.
