The secret trails of La Clarée - Le Chalet d'en Hô
This trip is for those who want to discover the Clarée in a different light, with more original routes, avoiding the busiest GR. Our team of guides will take you to the wild valleys of the valley, in search of a lake a little hidden or to a less known summit, to enjoy and soak up its exceptional territory. Always with the guiding thread, the joy of sharing their knowledge on local history and geography. A stay of 5 days of sports walking (with 800 to 1000 meters of difference in altitude per day), on original routes: a good holiday program for curious hikers and mountain lovers!
Every evening back at the hotel, you can recover in the repairing bubbles of the Jacuzzi, in the Sauna for a detox sweat, or under the magic fingers of our masseuses that will help you to fight the aches and pains!
PROGRAM:
Monday: Colette de Biaune (2597 m), Lac Noir du Vallon:
We start with a short transfer (10 minutes) to Ville-Haute and the glacial lock of Lacou. From the chapel of Sainte Barbe, by a good path in turns, we reach the southern foothills where nestle the chalets of Biaune. Then it is a large valley that welcomes us to climb off-trail to the Colette at 2597 meters, a small pass that allows us to swing on its northern slope in the Vallon. A popular area of chamois, which we will watch! The descent reaches the small lake Noir then the banks of the torrent du Vallon which brings us back to the village.
Difference in elevation: + and - 800 to 1000m. 5 to 6 hours of walking.
Tuesday: Loop from the valley of the Oule to the valley of Cristol. Pic du Longet (2573 m) optional.
From the hotel, we go on foot along the Clarée to find the start of the trail that goes up in the valley of l'Oule by a beautiful forest of larches in ubac. 600 meters higher, the melezine opens on the alp of the valley of Oule. We continue along the bed of the torrent to reach first two beautiful lakes and then, off-trail, the ridge that leads to the peak of Longet (which we can do round trip) and allows us to go down into the valley of Cristol. The beautiful lake of Cristol will offer us a small contemplative pause in the afternoon, before diving back into the valley.
Elevation difference: + and - 900m (+ 100m to the top). 6h walk
Wednesday: Lac Biron, Pointe de Rochachille (2,799 m)
From the end of the high valley road (1/2h transfer to the parking lot of Laval), we will aim for the ridge that closes the valley and separates us from the Maurienne. Alpine pastures, little used by hikers but much by sheep in the grazing season, allow us to find, off-trail, the small lake Biron: it is a real reward, with an original point of view on the valley! Then we continue by the ridge that extends it towards the Pointe de Rochachille, from where the view opens on the Savoie. We will be able to explore, always off the trail, this border area to enjoy the panoramas before returning to the edges of the Clarée.
Difference in elevation: + and - 800m. 5 to 6 hours of walking
Thursday: Fort de l'Olive, Fort de Lenlon (2508 m), Vallon du Creuzet
On foot from the hotel and along the Clarée (in the other direction this time), we descend into the Bois des Arras to undertake the steep ascent of the Sapé and the Rocher de l'Olive: the army built a fort there in the late 19th century to watch over the border with Italy. The place is worth a visit (and in addition the panorama is nice)! We climb further on the ridge to find another fort, little brother of the previous one: this will be our highest point. We will then go down, off-path, through the valley of Creuzet, attentive to the fauna that inhabits it. This loop can also be made in the other direction.
Difference in elevation: + and - 900m. 5 to 6h walk
Friday: Vallon and Col du Raisin, Pic Ombière (2,832 m)
From Fontcouverte, we reach the valley of the Raisin, above the refuge of Chardonnet, to get the ridge that separates the valleys of the Clarée and the Guisane. From the Col du Raisin (2691 m) to the summit of the Pic Ombière, we enjoy a magnificent view on both sides, with the high peaks of the Ecrins as stars.
Difference in altitude: + and - 850m (+150m for the summit). 5 to 6h of walk
