With directness, humor and philosophy, he takes us into a vision of the world that goes beyond shepherding. You watch and take your time. There's the grandiose mountain and its wild fauna, the 90 goats, the dogs, a few pigs and a few chickens, but also those who come up to see him: a monk from the Tamié Abbey and his donkey... a kid and a young Parisian who know how to milk by hand... How do you strike a balance between age-old knowledge and technological advances? Where does the essential lie? Faced with the absurdities of the system, the shepherd becomes a rebel full of common sense, and makes the most of his sobriety and respect for his flock. A film that does good as much as it asks questions.
