Conference: Mountain areas and natural hazards: what role for scientists?
The exceptional climatic events that led, in June 2024, to the destruction of the village of La Bérarde and the isolation of the Vénéon valley have led to the involvement of a large number of scientists from a variety of disciplines, both for the retroanalysis of the event and for the reflection on how to repair the damage.
This involvement has interacted with the mobilisation of the populations concerned, the administration, the socio-economic world and decision-making bodies.
How can scientists position themselves within this diverse network of players?
How important are their contributions in the context of natural disasters?
