Concert autour de l'orgue
Guillaume Gionta presents an original program of transcriptions of Baroque works originally intended for orchestra or harpsichord.
Guillaume Gionta began playing the piano at the age of 5 in Marseille, but soon discovered a passion for the organ and its rich, orchestral-like sonorities. Curious about timbres, he enjoys discovering the sound colors of each instrument he plays, and putting them to use in the music he performs. Always in this spirit of curiosity, Guillaume Gionta has made numerous transcriptions for his instrument, both from works for piano (Mozart, Liszt, Ravel...) and orchestra (Bach, Tchaikowsky, Saint-Saens...), with the aim of enriching his repertoire. Guillaume Gionta was organist at the Dominican convent in Marseille, then for nearly 10 years organist at the sanctuaries of Notre Dame de la Garde.
Today, he is titular organist of the great organ at Montpellier's Cathédrale Saint Pierre and artistic director of the Cathedral's concert seasons.
