Concert ' Aimez-vous Brahms ? '

As it has done for several summers now, the Chœur Région Sud will be visiting the Hautes-Alpes department for two concerts.

'Music for choir and orchestra is the highest expression of music', said Robert Schumann.
Brahms's work is a perfect illustration of this statement. Brahms, who was a choral conductor, excelled in the art of using the resources of the voice and choral singing, giving each piece a strong emotional charge.
Sometimes serene and luminous, sometimes dark and tormented, sacred or secular, these songs transcend the antagonistic forces of classicism and romanticism in a harmonious unity. A pianistic interlude around the intermezzi adds tenderness and nostalgia to this vocal concert.
